World Book Day

World Book Day

This year to celebrate World Book Day, we would like to invite all staff and pupils to come to school in their pyjamas, a dressing gown or lounge-clothes, to show the importance of bedtime stories. This will take place on Thursday 7th March 2024. We would also like pupils to bring in their favourite night-time book.

Pupils across the school will have opportunities to share stories with others and even attend Cedar Hall’s famous Reading Café. There will be World Book Day activities in all classes and we would appreciate any book donations for a book sale at the Café – pupils can bring as little as 20p to buy a preloved book to take home.

We would also like to hold a competition for the best place you can read a book! It’s called the Extreme Read; this could be on a tractor, under the table, on a trampoline or in a cupboard! Send a photo to us – the best photos could win a prize.

We thank you for your support in making this a fun and memorable event!

Christmas Dinner

School Christmas Dinner

The school Christmas dinner will be on Friday 15th December 2023. This is lovely festive occasion. The cost of the Christmas dinner will be £4.00. Those children entitled to free school meals will be provided with a meal if requested.

If you would like your child to have Christmas dinner, please send the money in an envelope marked CHRISTMAS DINNER MONEY with your CHILD’S NAME and CLASS on the outside of the envelope. If you would like to pay online please indicate on the reply slip.

As we need to order our festive food as soon as possible we need to know definite numbers for the Christmas dinner by 30th November. If you have not informed us that your child needs a Christmas dinner by that date your child will have to bring in his/her own packed lunch.

Please note Class 10SP will be at Writtle College.

Pupils are invited to wear Christmas jumpers or festive tops with their normal school skirts or trousers, no donation required.
